Minor League Div.1: Mullingar Shamrocks 3-8 St Loman’s 0-6
The first evening game of the year ended in a comfortable 3-8 to 0-6 victory for Mullingar Shamrocks minors, the first we have recorded at this age grade against our local friends in several years. Mullingar Shamrocks displayed no winter lay-off rustiness and played some excellent unselfish football over the 60 minutes where the emphasis was on combination play and passing to the better placed teammate.
Shamrocks led by 1-5 to 0-4 at the interval with Ryan Kelly helping himself to 1-2 and Luke McCabe also contributing to the scoreboard. Alex Sheerin was the predator-in-chief in the second half and scored two great opportunist goals with Ryan Kelly and Luke McCabe adding to the points total.
Mullingar Shamrocks: Eoin Doran; Gary Brannigan, William O’Reilly, Dylan Carey; Peter Finch, Matthew Ryan, Tadhg Sheridan; Luke McCabe, Nathan Cornally; John Ryan, Callum Rigney, Mike Swarbrigg; Ryan Kelly, Gavin Pierce, Alex Sheerin. Replacements: Donnacha Maguire, Luke Raeside, Jack Guilfoyle, Adam Glynn, Billy Walsh, Lorcan Penrose, John Shaw, Killian Kelly, Matas Puida.
Fógra: It was great to see the county minor panellists lining out in this match. Full marls to the management team for this sensible approach.
