The Late Marion Glennon …

We received the sad news on Thursday evening of the death of Marion Glennon, one of our great members and supporters. There was no Mullingar Shamrocks event that Marion did not grace with her presence; if not supporting, Marion, was involved in lending a helping hand and organising matters. From the beginning of the Bingo in The Clubhouse, Marion, with her gang of great friends, many of them her Lynn Heights neighbours, was part of the group that made it all happen over fourteen years of unbroken service that began on 14 September 2006. There was no prouder supporter in Ballynacarrigy last September when Mullingar Shamrocks captured the Minor football title for the first time in many years.

Marion’s husband Peter is an Honorary President of the Mullingar Shamrocks club and successfully represented the club in Scór Figure Dancing competitions as well as enjoying success at coaching and managing at under-age level. Ciarán and Oisín represented the club at under-age level successfully and Thérèse wore the Mullingar Shamrocks jersey in LGF.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Peter, Ciarán, Oisín and Thérèse and to Marion’s mother Catherine (Kit), granddaughter Aoibhinn, sister Marj, brothers Pat and Aidan, Ciarán’s partner Katie, Oisín’s partner Sam, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and wonderful friends.

Marion reposes at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 3.00 pm concluding with prayers at 5.00pm. Marion’s Funeral Mass takes place on Monday at 1.00 pm in the Cathedral of Christ the King followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.
