Best of luck to Denis Corroon and the Westmeath Football team and management in today's Leinster senior football championship match v Laois. Throw in is at 1.30 and the venue is Tullamore.

Some of our underage players have been in action with Westmeath hurling teams over the past week. Jack Gillen was a key-figure in that 68-score hurling classic played in Portlaoise on last Tuesday evening. Jack scored 1-8 as Westmeath staged a remarkable recovery. The net in Portlaoise is still shaking after Jack's brilliant blasted injury time goal that put Westmeath into the lead with time virtually up but unfortunately Laois equalised and went on to win in extra-time.

On Saturday Conor Heffernan, John Ryan, Shane Ormsby, Ciaran Kiernan, and Nathan Cornally represented Westmeath in the Celtic Challenge winning 4-19 to 1-14 against Kildare. John, Shane, Nathan and Ciaran play Under-17 football for Shamrocks and Conor plays Under-15.
