Last Man Standing.
We’re just past the half way mark in the club’s Last Man Standing competition and out of 455 initial entries only 9 are still standing. Club PRO Tom Hunt put his faith in Donegal ousting Fermanagh but Fermanagh’s tactics under former Donegal boss Rory Gallagher ensured Fermanagh’s unbeaten run continued and Tom’s elimination from the competition. There was slight consolation for Tom as his native Waterford fired 5 goals past Wexford and the Decies men’s victory resulted in five other entrants falling by the wayside. Former Shamrocks’ manager Ritchie O’ Donoghue, underage stars Ty Masterson and Susanna Buckley and Shandonagh goalkeeeper Conor Craig are among those now in real contention for the top prize. Victories for Tyrone and Down next week will be crucial in determining the contestants set to feature in the penultimate round.
