Congrats Katie ...
Congrats to Katie McCarthy who retained her county Westmeath Scór Sinsir Amhránaíocht Aonair (Solo Singing) title in The Downs on Saturday night. In what was one of the most competitive Solo Singing finals in the competition's history nine competitors stepped up to the microphone, but it was Katie who triumphed singing a Donna Taggart influenced (but much better of course!) version of Phil Coulter's The Town I Loved So Well. Katie has been a great and loyal representative of Mullingar Shamrocks over the years and we are lucky to have such a wonderful representative of the club. Well done again, Katie. Our Rince Foirne (Figure Dancing) team were unlucky in an event that was something of a Mullingar Shamrocks speciality. This time it wasn't to be and it was St Mary's Rochfortbridge who took home the Rob Cornally Trophy. Our dancers coached and managed by Mary Doolin and Patsy Rylands were: Aileen Martin, Katie Murphy, Maura Buckley, Úna Fagan Gavigan, Mary Jo Geraghty, Shannon Daly, Kim Darby and Zoe Collins. Our own Paul Doolin was a superb Fear an Tí on the night whilst of course Paul's wife Mary (Cornally) is county Scór secretary.
