Back in the good old days of 1986 and 1987, Kevin Daly and Peter Smith were key defenders on the Mullingar Shamrocks senior football teams that won the Flanagan Cup. They even sat together for the 1987 team photo. On Friday night in Croke Park their sons Killian and Stephen were in direct oppositiion with Stephen Smith playing at corner forward for Dublin and Killian Daly in the corner back position and captain of Westmeath. Peter Smith won county senior medals with Mullingar Shamrocks in 1986, '87, '90 (capt), '92, '93 and '94. Kevin Daly won senir medals in 1986, 87 and was back from the USA in 1994 to win another title. Killian Daly has 2012 and 2018 county senior medals in his collection...
