Thanks to the cooperation of the principals and staff of the various schools concerned it was a wonderful morning of schools' visitation that began in St Colmcille's National School in Gainstown. Dónal, Kieran and James were warmly welcomed by staff and students with lots of photo opportunities for the boys and girls many of them wearing their Mullingar Shamrocks colours to honour the occasion ...

And then it was back to Mullingar to the Presentation Junior School where Dónal and Kieran visited several classrooms with the most coveted trophy in the Westmeath GAA world. And the pupils had prepared a special card of congratulations to honour the visit - a lovely gesture and one that was greatly appreciated.

The final visit was made to St Kenny's National School, Kilpatrick deep in the heart of Shandonagh territory but the welcome for the 'Big Bears' of Westmeath football was equally great as the Mullingar Shamrocks students had their moment of glory. Kieran Gavin was joined on this visit by Gary Corroon and Davy Coyne who greeted us with the news that the knee injury he sustained in training prior to the county final was freshly diagnosed as the dreaded torn cruciate ... and we send our best wishes to Davy for a speedy recovery to full fitness when the necessary repair work has been carried out ...
