All-Ireland LGF Final ...

50,141 spectators attended the All-Ireland LGF finals in Croke Park on Sunday. Mullingar Shamrocks girls were part of that European record for women's sport gathering as 37 of our girls from the Under-12 and Under-14 grades made the journey to the famous venue. Debbie Newman, Terry O'Dowd, Sandra Smith, Danielle Hope and Margaret Donohoe were the coaches who were so generous with their time and braved the journey to Croke Park with the girls. They witnessed a wonderful senior final between Cork and Dublin and can only have been impressed with the athleticism, physicality, skill levels, fitness and speed on display in what was one of the finest games of football in any code played this year. It's a shame that LGF hasn't got a much higher profile in Westmeath.
