On Friday evening over 300 people celebrated what was a fantastic year for WestmeathLadies Gaa and honoured the volunteers that made it all possible.
Players, coaches, families and supporters came together to acknowledge the hard work, commitment and pride shown throughout the season.
Mullingar Shamrocks were well represented in the coaching sphere, in the volunteer nominees for the various awards, and as playing members of three of the four Leinster title winning sides.
The night began with a very strong Mullingar Shamrocks flavour when Orla Nohilly captain of the Westmeath Under-14 Leinster title winning team led the successful panel to their seats. The panel also included Keela Doran, Alana Burke, Moya Kilmartin and Emily Forde.
Carole Finch managed the Leinster Under-18 champion team and the panel included Katie Matthews and Zara Corroon.
Chloe Smullen, Anna Jones, Susanna Buckley and Melek Fagan added Leinster Intermediate medals to their collection in 2025. It’s not a bad year when 11 club members collect Leinster medals across the age grades. Ladies football is in a good place in Mullingar Shamrocks.
Karen Hegarty (Schools Coach of the Year), Tom Hunt (Club PRO of the Year), Terry O’ Dowd (Shelia Lyster Hall of Fame Award) were nominees in three of the award categories that were on offer. The highlight for Mullingar Shamrocks in this section was the awarding of the Underage Coach of the Year to Lisa Burke in recognition of her coaching ability that was central to Mullingar Shamrocks winning the Under-14 Girls A title in 2024 and 2025. A remarkable achievement.
The Westmeath LGFA Executive, deserve great credit for their organisation of an event that showcased the great work and great achievements of Westmeath in the world of LGFA.
County Secretary, Paula Finan, was a superb MC on the night.
And it was a night for great photo opportunities as we can see from the attached.
