Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam

Con was a good friend of Mullingar Shamrocks and was generous in his support to the club over the years. Back in the early 1990s when the club travelled to Tenerife and Grand Canaria, Con joined us on these trips. A visit to Con’s was always on the agenda when the Flanagan Cup was captured.

Conor Gilsenan was a talented under-age footballer with Mullingar Shamrocks  at under-age level and was a member of the club’s  Under-14 triple-crown winning team in 2005 and of the champion Minor team of 2008 before his rugby excellence provided Conor with a pathway to professional sport. Conor captained Ireland rugby teams at under-18, under-19 and under-20 level before starring for London Irish in the Aviva Premiership before injury forced his premature retirement in 2020.
